Well, over the weekend something amazing happened. So, my story AW: Planet E (click the link here if you haven't read it yet) has gotten featured on the Voices of Persons with Disability shelf! This shelf is to honour International Persons with Disabilities Day (which was on Dec. 3). This shelf focuses on either stories about characters with disabilities, or from authors who have disabilities. This shelf holds a special place in my heart because of two reasons. This shelf was the first shelf I was ever featured on (which was last year on the All Able shelf with The Crimson Keeper.) and secondly because episode shines a light on not only people who have disabilities but also the characters that have disabilities as well. People with disabilities have challenges in everyday life that someone who is able body wouldn't think.
An example for myself is that I have to wear an AFO Split in order to walk with shoes on, to move, and to even go outside. I even had to ask my parents, siblings, and friends to help myself put my socks and shoes on everyday as I was unable to. Since technology has improved and grown this has since been changed but is still a struggle most days.
Anyways, enough about myself, Here are the amazing stories and authors that have made the Voices of Persons with Disability shelf.
Right Beside You by @nellyy.epi
Second Chance Charlie by @calico.episode
AW: Planet E by @Sylvia_Eve
Truthfully Yours, OCD by @Gabi.episode
Draken Stone by @janebelrose
These authors are not only talented, super sweet, and kind. But, some even have their own disabilities. I am honoured to be on such an incredible shelf with these amazing, creative, and talented people. Thank you episode for honouring this shelf and to everyone in the community who shared tons of stories and authors who have disabilities.
